Jack-the-Giant-Slayer-Poster-EscapeBryan Singer (X-Men) returns to the big screen for the first time in five years this weekend, with the release of Jack the Giant Slayer in US cinemas.

Singer’s anticipated return behind the camera sees him directing rising young star Nicholas Hoult (X-Men: First Class), who take the lead once more after topping the box office last month in Warm Bodies.

We saw a great new trailer for Singer’s and Warner Bros.’ upcoming blockbuster a few weeks ago, and now a new UK poster has debuted, dubbed ‘Escape’, with Hoult front and centre alongside Eleanor Tomlinson.

“An ancient war is reignited when a young farmhand unwittingly opens a gateway between our world and a fearsome race of giants. Unleashed on the Earth for the first time in centuries, the giants strive to reclaim the land they once lost, forcing the young man, Jack (Nicholas Hoult), into the battle of his life to stop them. Fighting for a kingdom and its people, and the love of a brave princess, he comes face to face with the unstoppable warriors he thought only existed in legend… and gets the chance to become a legend himself.”

Hoult and Tomlinson are joined by a great cast, headed up by Ewan McGregor, Stanley Tucci, Bill Nighy, Ian McShane, John Kassir, Ewen Bremner, and Eddie Marsan.

Singer is directing from a script written by Dan Studney (Reefer Madness), Darren Lemke (Shrek Forever After), and Christopher McQuarrie (The Usual Suspects).

Jack the Giant Slayer will be released in 3D and IMAX 3D on 1st March in the US, followed by a 22nd March UK release date. This is one of the first big original blockbusters of the year, and I’m looking forward to seeing how it fares this weekend.
