Shane Black’s Iron Man 3 is less than a week from hitting the big screen here in the UK, and the early (tweeted) reviews that have been surfacing so far have been overwhelmingly positive.
Following on from Joss Whedon’s game-changing The Avengers, Marvel will be kicking off the anticipated Phase Two of their Cinematic Universe with Iron Man 3, and this is pretty much all anyone is going to be talking about in the coming weeks.
The latest trailer gave us plenty more to look forward to when the blockbuster hits. And after catching the first featurette earlier in the month, the studio have debuted the second, giving us a look at some of the new tech we can expect Tony Stark and co. to be playing with.
Marvel Studios’ Iron Man 3 pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?
Robert Downey, Jr. reprises his role once more as Tony Stark / Iron Man. And starring alongside him is a brilliant cast, led by Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Ben Kingsley, Rebecca Hall, Stephanie Szostak, James Badge Dale, Jon Favreau, Wang Xueqi, and Fan Bingbing, with Paul Bettany reprising his role as the voice of JARVIS.
Black (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang) is directing from a script he co-wrote with Drew Pearce.
Iron Man 3 will be released in 3D and IMAX 3D on 25th April here in the UK, with its US release date following a week later on May 3rd. I have my ticket booked for the day of release, and I cannot wait. This has ‘Best Movie of the Year’ written all over it.
