Back in March we brought you the news that a story for Indy 5 was being developed and today we may have the rough outline of what this story will be about.

Coming from a New Zealand site called Stuff via Aint it Cool it might be worth treating this leak with some scepticism but this could reveal the subject of the next Indy film.

The post also includes some comments from their source about how Lucas/Spielberg intend to treat the special effects in Indy 5 and Shia Lebouf’s role in the film.

Obviously be warned that this could contain potential spoilers for the film but here are the main points from the article:

Indiana Jones 5 will begin shooting next year, and much of the plot line will be centred around the Bermuda Triangle, an area over the North Atlantic Ocean where a number of aircraft are said to have disappeared.

“George (Lucas) and Steven (Spielberg) have been working on a script and it’s almost there,” a source explained.

“Harrison is on stand-by for filming next year. This looks like being an emotional and exciting conclusion to the franchise, with Indy facing his biggest challenge yet.”

“Shia LaBeouf has a central role again as Indy’s son but this will be a blockbuster made in the old fashioned way rather than the CGI efforts of the last movie,” the source added.

So if this is true it suggests that maybe Lucas and Spielberg realised that the CG heavy Kingdom of the Crystal Skull may have been a misstep in the Indy franchise but could it be too late now. I found Kingdom of the Crystal Skull pretty disappointing as it felt like a pretty soulless affair and I wouldn’t be too upset if Indy just hung up his whip for good. That said, if Indy 5 has a decent script and the action/adventure elements are handled better than they were in Crystal Skull then maybe Indy 5 could be worth the price of admission.

What do you think, can Lucas, Spielberg and co. recapture the magic of the first three films and what do you think of the Bermuda Triangle plot?
