Idris Elba has signed up to star in Baltasar Kormakur’s survival thriller ‘Beast’ at Universal.

Based on an idea from Jaime Primak-Sullivan, Kormakur will direct and produce from a script by ‘Rampage’ scribe Ryan Engle.

Plot details are being kept locked up by Universal.

Will Packer and James Lopez will also produce through their Will Packer Productions. Kormakur will produce through his RVK Studios. Primak-Sullivan will executive produce.

The Icelandic director Kormakur, is best known for his work on 2018’s ‘Adrift’ starring Sam Claflin and Shailene Woodley, ‘Everest’ and the Denzel Washington, Mark Wahlberg feature ‘2 Guns’.

Elba, as usual, is keeping himself busy in front and behind the camera. He stars in ‘Concrete Cowboy’ which premiered recently at the Toronto Film Festival. He will also star in James Gunn’s ‘The Suicide Squad’ as Bloodsport and Netflix western “The Harder They Fall” along with Jonathan Majors, Regina King, Zazie Beetz, Lakeith Stanfield, Edi Gathegi, Danielle Deadwyler and RJ Cyler.
