Identity-Thief-UK-Quad-PosterArriving in US theatres tomorrow, Identity Thief has been shaping up to be a very promising crime-comedy this year.

The ever-brilliant Jason Bateman (Arrested Development, Horrible Bosses) and Melissa McCarthy (Bridesmaids) star in the leads, and that makes for a brilliant comedy duo.

The latest trailer landed before the end of last year, and now Universal have released a new trailer ahead of its UK release next month, along with the UK quad poster.

“Unlimited funds have allowed Diana (McCarthy) to live it up on the outskirts of Miami, where the queen of retail buys whatever strikes her fancy. There’s only one glitch: The ID she’s using to finance these sprees reads “Sandy Bigelow Patterson” … and it belongs to an accounts rep (Bateman) who lives halfway across the U.S.

With only one week to hunt down the con artist before his world implodes, the real Sandy Bigelow Patterson heads south to confront the woman with an all-access pass to his life. And as he attempts to bribe, coax and wrangle her the 2,000 miles to Denver, one easy target will discover just how tough it is to get your name back.”

Starring alongside Bateman and McCarthy will be a great supporting cast, headed up by Jon Favreau, Amanda Peet, Eric Stonestreet, John Cho, Tip “T.I.” Harris, Genesis Rodriguez, Robert Patrick, and Morris Chestnut.

Seth Gordon (Horrible Bosses) is reuniting with Bateman once more behind the camera, directing from a script by Craig Mazin (The Hangover Part II, The Hangover Part III).

Horrible Bosses is undeniably one of the funniest films to come out in recent years, so I can’t wait to see Gordon and Bateman back together here for Identity Thief. The role opposite Bateman was originally scripted for a male, but Bateman loved McCarthy so much that he asked for the script to be rewritten for her. And that must feel pretty good for McCarthy.

Identity Thief will hit US theatres tomorrow, 8th February, and will be released here in the UK on 22nd March. Here’s the new trailer to set the mood, followed by the UK quad poster. Enjoy.
