Movement on the ‘Dungeons and Dragons’ adaptation has been full steam ahead in the casting department. First ‘Bridgerton’ star Rege-Jean Page joins the cast, now Hugh Grant has signed up to take on the role of the villain.

Grant will play the main villain Forge Fletcher, actress Sophia Lillis has also joined the cast and will take on the role of Doric.

Grant will join the already cast Rege-Jean Page, Chris Pine, ‘Fast and Furious’ star Michelle Rodriguez and ‘Pokemon Detective Pikachu’s’ Justice Smith.

The film adaptation of the popular fantasy role-playing game has ‘Game Night’ duo Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley at the helm of the feature which they also penned based on a draft by Michael Gilio.

Paramount is co-producing and co-financing the ‘Dungeons and Dragons’ movie with Hasbro and eOne. eOne is distributing the movie in the U.K. and Canada, while Paramount is handling the rollout in the rest of the world. The release date was recently pushed back from November of 2021 to May 27, 2022.

Grant’s career has been a whirlwind of great roles since starring in ‘Paddington 2’ back in 2017. He went on to play the dodgy politician Jeremy Thorpe in the series ‘A Very English Scandal, a dodgy journalist in Guy Ritchie’s return to form ‘The Gentleman’ and the dodgy doctor with blood on his hands in the recent series ‘The Undoing’ opposite Nicole Kidman. We see a pattern emerging here…
