Henry Cavill - Man of Steel

We’ve come to the end of our Man of Steel takeover but we’ve saved the best until last and we get to hear from the one and only Henry Cavill who takes on the lead role as Superman / Clark Kent.  If you’ve missed them, today we’ve had interviews with Zack Snyder and cast members Ayelet Zurer and Antje Traue and Michael Shannon, and Russell Crowe, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane and Amy Adams who plays Lois Lane. All of the interviews have been conducted by James Kleinmann who got to fly off to Warner Bros. Studio in Burnank California to chat with all these megastars!

In this interview James asks Cavill about wearing one of the most famous costumes in the film industry. He talks about the first time he put the costume on, how that felt and how he realised his own personal Superman. We hear what Cavill thinks about being the first British Superman, coming to the UK to bring Superman back to his hometown and how he cannot wait for a British audience to see it. James also asks about how he feels being in the limelight taking on such a massive role!

We also get to hear about the first time that Henry Cavill met Russell Crowe when he was an extra in the movie Proof of Life. Cavill had the guts to go up to Crowe and say hello and both of them remember to this day. You can see the Russell Crowe interview where Crowe remembers it too and even sent him a gift including a signed photo of him in Gladiator and written on it was the line:

“Dear Henry, a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step, Russell”.

Very cool! This picture has helped Cavill on his acting journey to get to where he is to this day. Finally we get to hear about how he had to get in shape for the role, becoming über fit and working with personal trainers to achieve the goal of becoming Superman and what it was like working with Director Zack Snyder and making the movie as ‘real’ as possible and working with Amy Adams who plays Lois Lane.

Although all our video interviews are now live on the site (click the links above), keep your eyes peeled later in the week as we’ll be chatting to more of the filmmakers so you’ll be able to get an even bigger Superman fix by then! We’ll also get our review of the movie up on the site ready for Tuesday morning GMT so make sure you come back then to see what we thought of this latest version of the franchise.

Man of Steel is released in the UK 14th June.
