The Marvel series ‘Hawkeye’ hasn’t even landed on the Disney+ streaming channel, but word is a spin-off centring on the character of Echo, is already in development.

The deaf Native American character Echo, played by Alaqua Cox, will feature in the upcoming Jeremy Renner led series. Cox makes her on-screen debut in the series.

The spin-off, which is in the early stages of development has Etan Cohen and Emily Cohen attached to pen the story. They will also serve as executive producer’s on the show. A writers’ room recently being assembled. Marvel Studios will produce.

Echo aka Maya Lopez ability is to perfectly copy another person’s movements or fighting style. In the comics, Echo crosses paths with characters like Daredevil, Moon Knight and the Avengers. She was also the first person to hold the title of Ronin before passing it onto Clint Barton, a.k.a. Hawkeye, in the comics.

Set to debut later in the year, ‘Hawkeye’ will see Renner reprise his role. Hailee Steinfeld will take on the role of Kate Bishop. Vera Farmiga and Florence Pugh will also appear in the series.

The news follows a highly successful first weekend for the Disney+ Marvel series ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ which took the title of being the most-watched series premiere ever on Disney+ during its opening weekend, and the most-watched title overall for the same time period on a global basis.
