The BBC and HBO have unveiled the official trailer for ‘Half Man,’ a brooding, time-hopping drama from Richard Gadd.

At the centre of this fractured tale are Ruben and Niall, played by Richard Gadd and Jamie Bell, respectively. Brothers, though not by blood. Their bond is forged in grief and circumstance, something closer to gravity than choice. One is fierce and unyielding, the other quiet and careful. Together, they are inseparable… until time does what time always does.

Three decades later, at what should be a moment of celebration, Ruben reappears at Niall’s wedding. But something is off. His edges are jagged now, his presence unpredictable. Then comes the spark: a sudden eruption of violence that shatters the present and sends the story spiralling backwards through the years. Childhood, adolescence, adulthood, each chapter peeling back layers of love, damage, and dependency.

Younger versions of the central duo are portrayed by Mitchell Robertson as Niall and Stuart Campbell as Ruben. Family shadows loom large, too, with Neve McIntosh as Niall’s mother, Lori and Marianne McIvor as Ruben’s mother, Maura. The ensemble expands with appearances from Charlie De Melo, Bilal Hasna, Julie Cullen, Amy Manson, Anjli Mohindra, Tim Downie, Tom Andrews, Philippine Velge, Stuart McQuarrie, Sandy Batchelor, Piers Ewart, and Scot Greenan, alongside rising newcomers Charlotte Blackwood, Calum Manchip, and Kate Robson-Stuart.
