After helming one of 2014’s best movies in The Guest (which starred Downton Abbey’s Dan Stevens in a role which has hopefully put him on track for even bigger things in the future), director Adam Wingard has set his sights on another horror movie. This will be his second after helming surprise 2011 hit, You’re Next.

He will reunite with screenwriter Simon Barrett for The Woods at Lionsgate, their third collaboration.

There aren’t much in the way of plot details available, but it being set in the woods seems like a safe bet based on the title! The very brief logline confirms that actually, as the story is said to revolve around “a group of college students on a camping trip who discover they are not alone.” That’s intriguing!

That’s obviously sounds pretty standard, but you just know that it will end up being something very unique and different in the hands on Wingard and Barrett. The former recently finished shooting Outcast for Cinemax, a planned adaptation of a graphic novel by The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman.

Production on The Woods is expected to begin in a few months time, and the cast will feature a group of unknowns in a bid to give the horror movie “maximum scares”. We’ll be sure to keep you updated…
