House of Cards is all about Frank Underwood’s (played by Kevin Spacey) quest to get into the Oval Office, but the acclaimed actor looks set to get very comfortable there as President Richard Nixon in Elvis & Nixon.

Liza Johnson is directing the comedy which will see Spacey’s 37th president of the United States joined by Boardwalk Empire and Man of Steel star Michael Shannon as the king of rock ‘n’ roll Elvis Presley.

The movie is currently in the process of being shot in New Orleans, and the first official image of the duo in their respective roles has now been released. Elvis & Nixon revolves around the “infamous, intimate Dec. 21, 1970 meeting between Nixon and Presley where Presley asked to be named a special FBI operative.”

It certainly sounds unique, and the impressive cast also includes Colin Hanks, Alex Pettyfer, Johnny Knoxville, Tracy Letts and singer Sky Ferreira. There’s no word on a release date as of yet, but the movie is currently being sold to foreign buyers at the Berlin Film Festival for the European Film Market.

With this first image now out there, we hopefully won’t have to wait too long until the trailer drops! If you’re interested in seeing Kevin Spacey in another political role, see the House of Cards teaser by clicking here.
