The trailer for ‘NIMRODS,’ the wild coming-of-age road-trip comedy inspired by the early years of legendary punk rock band Green Day, has been released, alongside confirmation that Trafalgar Releasing will bring the film to UK cinemas for special-event screenings on 11 August and 14 August.

Designed as a global theatrical event, the screenings will unite Green Day fans around the world to celebrate the band’s early adventures, DIY spirit and lasting influence on rock ‘n’ roll culture.

Set against the backdrop of America’s highways, ‘NIMRODS’ follows Tommy (Mason Thames), whose dreams of making it big appear to come true after receiving a phone call inviting his band to open for Green Day on New Year’s Eve. Unknown to Tommy, the invitation is nothing more than an elaborate prank orchestrated by his older brother, Wayne (Keen Ruffalo).

Determined to seize what he believes is the opportunity of a lifetime, Tommy steals Wayne’s car and convinces his band to embark on a frantic three-day road trip from Kansas City to Los Angeles. The chaotic adventure is inspired by Green Day’s own experiences touring the country in a van long before the release of their breakthrough album, Dookie.

The film also features Green Day themselves alongside a star-studded ensemble including Mason Thames, Kylr Coffman, Ryan Foust, Ignacio Diaz-Silverio, Keen Ruffalo, Jenna Fischer, Angela Kinsey, Fred Armisen, Bobby Lee, Sean Gunn and McKenna Grace.

Written and directed by Lee Kirk, ‘NIMRODS’ blends outrageous comedy with an affectionate tribute to one of punk rock’s most influential bands.

To celebrate the announcement, Green Day have also unveiled their brand-new single and music video, “I’m Never Gonna R.I.P.” The track appears exclusively over the film’s end credits and forms part of a career-spanning soundtrack featuring 22 Green Day songs, chronicling the band’s remarkable journey.

The theatrical experience doesn’t end when the credits roll. Fans attending the special screenings will also enjoy exclusive bonus live performances recorded at the Palladium, presented in stunning 4K and introduced by Green Day themselves.
