Sundance-favourite Safety Not Guaranteed has been doing fantastically in its release across the US in recent weeks, both critically and commercially, opening with an impressive 0,000 in its first four-city weekend, very impressive numbers for an indie like this.

It’s essentially universally loved by all critics – you can read our own five-star review here – and it will be opening in even more cities across the US this coming weekend, 13th July.

Ahead of that, the film’s official Facebook has debuted another brilliant new image of Aubrey Plaza as the lead, Darius.

“From the producers of Little Miss Sunshine – When an unusual classified ad inspires three cynical Seattle magazine employees to look for the story behind it, they discover a mysterious eccentric named Kenneth, a likable but paranoid supermarket clerk, who believes hes solved the riddle of time travel and intends to depart again soon. Together, they embark on a hilarious, smart, and unexpectedly heartfelt journey that reveals how far believing can take you.”

Joining her is a fantastic cast in Mark Duplass, Jake M. Johnson, Karan Soni, Mary Lynn Rajskub, and Jeff Garlin, with director Colin Trevorrow and writer Derek Connolly both making fantastic feature debuts.

We heard last month that Trevorrow and Connolly will be re-teaming for their second film, The Ambassadors, which is nothing short of one of the best pieces of news I’ve heard all year.

If you’re reading this in the States or Canada – or in Australia or New Zealand, where it will open later this year – I can’t recommend the film enough. You can click here to see if it’s playing in your local theatre.

Still no word yet on if/when we’ll be seeing it in the UK, but I remain optimistic, at least that it will arrive on our shores on DVD/Blu-ray – though hopefully a theatrical release still isn’t entirely out of the question. As usual with this new image, you can click to enlarge.
