Wonder Woman actress Gal Gadot has completed a deal with Universal Pictures to join the action heist thriller Red Notice alongside Dwayne Johnson.

Gadot is said to be playing the character of a brilliant and mysterious figure in the art world. The storyline is being kept a secret for the time being but it is said to follow an Interpol agent (we’re guessing this could be Johnson’s character) who is after the most wanted art thief in the world. Word is there is yet to be a third male lead yet to be cast.

Rawson Marshall Thurber will take the helm on the film on his own original script, reuniting him with Johnson for the third time. The pair have previously worked on Central Intelligence and more recently, Skyscraper.

Thurber’s latest creation saw a bidding war commence for the rights to the film with Universal coming out victorious. The Skyscraper director also took a vested interest in persuading Gadot to take the role. He personally flew to London to pitch the story to the actress, all within the space of 30 hours.

Gadot is currently filming the follow-up to Patty Jenkin’s Wonder Women, which sees both director and star reunite. She has also confirmed a deal on another Warner Bros offering, Sue Kroll’s My Dearest Fidel.

Producers on Red Notice include Beau Flynn of  Flynn Picture Co.; Johnson, Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia for their Seven Bucks Productions; and Thurber for his Bad Version, Inc. Wendy Jacobson is executive producer.

Filming doesn’t commence on the film until April 2019. Universal has set a June 12, 2020 release date.
