As the extended horrorshow continues at Film4 FrightFest in London’s Leicester Square news has emerged which may point the way for one of the genre’s most exalted figures.

Our man Craig Skinner is at the festival and reports that in the Q&A session following the debut of his eagerly awaited new film The Innkeepers West spoke of two scripts for a couple of new projects which, while currently still in the planning stages, may signal the director’s foray into new territory.

The director said that his next project may well be a sci-fi film and that half of the necessary financing is already in place. West then dropped hints that he also has a Werewolf script ready and waiting.

It’s an intriguing prospect for fans of the House of the Devil director, and the twitter buzz surrounding The Innkeepers following its showing in London is very positive. West is one of directors involved in Drafthouse’s The ABCs of Death, and his films thus far have won him acclaim and a place in the hearts of many a horror fan. A sci-fi film from West would be an interesting tangent on his career path.

More as we get it.
