DreamWorks Animation has dropped a brand-new trailer for ‘Forgotten Island’, and it’s a luminous swirl of fantasy, folklore, and heartfelt stakes that promises to tug at the memory strings.
The film follows Jo and Raissa, two lifelong best friends standing at the edge of change, trying to savour one final night together before life pulls them in different directions. But fate has other plans. A mysterious portal whisks them away to Nakali, a breathtaking island alive with myth and magic, drawn from the stories passed down through their Filipino heritage.
Nakali is no ordinary escape. It’s a living tapestry of creatures both wondrous and dangerous, where legends breathe, and every shadow hums with possibility. Some beings offer friendship. Others, something far more sinister.
Among their unlikely allies is Raww, a chaotic yet lovable weredog voiced by Dave Franco, who brings a scrappy charm to the adventure. Together with a ragtag crew of companions, Jo and Raissa must confront the island’s most terrifying force: the Manananggal, brought to life by Tony Award-winning icon Lea Salonga.
But the island’s greatest threat isn’t just the creatures lurking in the dark. It’s the price of escape.
To return home, Jo and Raissa must sacrifice the very memories that define their friendship. Every laugh, every secret, every shared moment risks slipping into oblivion. What follows is a race against time, as they search for another way out before they forget each other completely.
Directed and written by Academy Award nominee Joel Crawford alongside Januel Mercado, the all-star voice cast deepens the film’s appeal, featuring Jenny Slate, Manny Jacinto, Dolly de Leon, Jo Koy, and Ronny Chieng, each adding their own flavour to this myth-infused adventure.
