Magnolia Pictures have released the first trailer for their new movie, Main Street which I’d not heard of until right now. Seems odd as the cast is rather spectacular (mainly since it contains Colin Firth!). The Full cast list includes Colin Firth, Ellen Burstyn, Patricia Clarkson, Amber Tamblyn, Orlando Bloom and is helmed by director, John Doyle.
From Horton Foote, Oscar winning screenwriter of To Kill a Mockingbird and Tender Mercies, comes MAIN STREET, a moving ensemble drama starring Oscar winner Colin Firth, Orlando Bloom, Oscar nominee Patricia Clarkson, Oscar winner Ellen Burstyn, and Andrew McCarthy. The lives of the residents of a small Southern city are changed forever by the arrival of a stranger with a controversial plan to save their decaying hometown.
After watching the trailer, I’m afraid Main Street doesn’t interest me at all but maybe I need to give it more of a chance although the accents from Firth and Bloom are pretty interesting after the first listen! It’s released in the US 9th September and should be with us here in the UK some time after that (can’t find a date as yet).
