Directed by three-time Academy Award-winning director Steven Spielberg, the Indiana Jones franchise is one of the best known series of films to come out of America, taking in just short of bn. across all four films at the international box office.

Following the trend of updating the classics by enhancing the picture and releasing them on Blu-Ray, Indiana Jones will be doing the same, with Yahoo Movies releasing the first trailer for The Complete Indiana Jones Blu-Ray Collection.

The fourth film, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, which saw Harrison Ford don the classic fedora and bullwhip for the first time in almost twenty years, has already been released on Blu-Ray back in 2008, having been made after Blu-Ray’s entry into the market. But this will be the first time the original trilogy gets its High-Definition release on Blu-Ray, and the first time all four films will be together in HD.

Spielberg’s partner on the films, George Lucas, is of course no stranger to releasing classic series on Blu-Ray, with Star Wars breaking records last year with its six-film Blu-Ray release, taking more than $84m. in its first week of release. And whilst Indiana Jones’ legacy is perhaps a rung or two down from Star Wars, I can see its BR release doing very well too.

The Complete Collection is due to come out later this year, so if you’re a fan of the series, be sure to keep your ear to the ground; we’ll be bringing you more as soon as we have it. And if you haven’t yet made the jump to investing in a Blu-Ray player for your home, I cannot recommend strongly enough how much you should. There’s really nothing like it.
