It’s been three years since Oliver Stone was last seen behind the camera with Savages. This Christmas, he returns with his highly anticipated feature, Snowden.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt stars as Edward Snowden, the incredibly controversial figure that has divided opinions among millions across the world. Gordon-Levitt is expected to have his first major shot at a Best Actor nomination at the Oscars.

SNOWDEN stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt and is written and directed by Academy Award®-Winning Director Oliver Stone. The script is based on the books The Snowden Files: The Inside Story of the World’s Most Wanted Man by Luke Harding and Time of the Octopus by Anatoly Kucherena.

Sharing the screen with Gordon-Levitt is a stellar ensemble, led by Shailene Woodley, Melissa Leo, Zachary Quinto, Tom Wilkinson, Rhys Ifans, and Nicolas Cage.

Stone is directing from a script he co-wrote with Kieran Fitzgerald (The Homesman). They adapted the original books The Snowden Files and Time of the Octopus, putting them in line for a Best Adapted Screenplay run during awards season.

Snowden is due to be released in the States on Christmas Day.
