US cable network Showtime recently revealed that Penny Dreadful will debut on Sunday, May 11th at 10pm, while we’ve also since been treated to a number of brief teasers. However, we now finally have a full-length trailer which gives us a much better idea as to what we should expect from the series.
In Penny Dreadful, some of literature’s most famously terrifying characters – including Dr. Frankenstein, Dorian Gray and iconic figures from the novel Dracula – have become embroiled in a dark secret in Victorian London. The series is a frightening psychosexual thriller created, written and executive produced by three-time Oscar nominee John Logan (Hugo, The Aviator, Gladiator) and executive produced by Logan’s Desert Wolf Productions, along with Oscar winner Sam Mendes (American Beauty, Skyfall) and Pippa Harris (Revolutionary Road), both of Neal Street.
In terms of cast, Penny Dreadful’s impressive line-up includes Eva Green, Josh Hartnett, Billie Piper, Rory Kinnear, and Timothy Dalton. With the team behind Skyfall working on the series, there’s no doubting the fact that it promises to be a TV show to keep an eye on. We’ll let you know as soon as there’s word on a UK air date.
