To celebrate the release of the brilliant new romantic comedy-drama Dating Amber, which arrives on Amazon Prime Video this week, we spoke to one of its stars Fionn O’Shea about the film and his recent hot streak…

Set in the 1990’s Ireland, Dating Amber charts the friendship between Eddie (O’Shea) and Amber (Lola Petticrew) who decide to pretend to be a straight relationship in an effort to fit in and to keep their parents at bay. While it’s setting its thirty years prior, much of modern-day attitudes towards queer and LGBTQ+ lives can be seen through the characters in the film, and O’Shea talks to us about the importance of that, why the film isn’t a “happy ever after” story and the impact the story will have on audiences.

We also talked about the phenomenal success of BBC Three’s Normal People and his character Jamie, as well as his latest exertion working with Tom Holland (Spider-Man: Far From Home) and Avengers: Endgame directors Joe and Anthony Russo on their new film Cherry, which is due to arrive later this year.
