It had made stars of A Single Man’s Nicholas Hoult and Slumdog’s own Millionaire Dev Patel, and now Film4 are teaming Cinemanx and Company Pictures to bring Skins to the big screen.

The strength of the show has been twofold – the ensemble casting the show has enjoyed over its four series and a creative team keen to avoid the usual teenage (melo)drama cliches.

The creator of Skins, Bryan Elsley, is working on the project with one of the show’s main writers Jack Thorne and the project will be directed by long time Skins director Charles Martin.

Slated for a Summer 2011 release, the film will feature some of the cast from all four series and given the show’s success they’ll be an inbuilt fan base waiting for this one, and it is great to see Film4 firmly promoting this sex and drugs fueled, and uniquely British, series.
