Woody-Allen-and-John-Turturro-in-Fading-GiggoloThe legendary John Turturro returns to Toronto once more this year with his latest feature, Fading Giggolo, a comedy that sees Turturro star as an eponymous male prostitute opposite Woody Allen as his pimp.

The premise and cast alone are enough to make it a must-see, and with TIFF now launching the first trailer and images, things are definitely looking good.

Woody Allen plays as bookseller-turned-pimp to John Turturro’s middle-aged neophyte hustler, in actor-writer-director Turturro’s inspired left-field comedy. The premise is as inspired as it is absurd, and Turturro carries it off with his own affecting and surprisingly romantic vision of New York City.

Turturro and Allen are joined by a great cast, led by Liev Schreiber, Sofía Vergara, Vanessa Paradis, Sharon Stone, Bob Balaban, and Max Casella.

Turturro is once more directing from his own script, with Jeffrey Kusama-Hinte (The Kids Are All Right) producing alongside Paul Hanson and Bill Block (Elysium, District 9).

Fading Giggolo will have its world premiere at TIFF next month. No word yet on a US or UK release date, but it has a pair of European dates set for November, so hopefully it will be arriving in cinemas shortly after its Toronto bow.
