Fargo isn’t going to return to FX later this year but will be back in 2017, and the critically acclaimed drama has now made two major casting additions…with just the one actor.

Ewan McGregor has been cast as two brothers, Emmit and Ray Stussy who are set to be at the centre of this story. However, before you go rolling your eyes at the tried and tested formula of a single actor playing twins, it turns out that won’t be the case in Fargo.

“Emmit Stussy is the Parking Lot King of Minnesota,” reads the official description released by the cable network today. “A handsome, self-made, real estate mogul and family man, Emmit sees himself as an American success story. His slightly younger brother, Ray Stussy, on the other hand is more of a cautionary tale. Balding, pot-bellied, Ray is the kind of guy who peaked in high school. Now a parole officer, Ray has a huge chip on his shoulder about the hand he’s been dealt, and he blames his brother, Emmit, for his misfortunes.”

It sounds like McGregor will look vastly different in each role then, something which is sure to result in a very unique status quo for the season which we already know will be set in 2010, a few years after the events of the first. As of right now, McGregor is the only official casting addition, though at least some familiar faces are expected to return in some way.
