Here’s some news hot of the Spidey press! We announced over the weekend that Emma Stone would be cast as Mary Jane Watson in the new Spider-Man but how wrong we were as news breaks that Stone has officially been cast as Gwen Stacy in the Marc Webb directed movie.
The casting was confirmed by Amy Pascal, co-chairman of Sony Pictures Entertainment and Matt Tolmach, president of Columbia Pictures in a joint announcement earlier today.
Stone will star opposite Andrew Garfield’s Peter Parker in the Columbia Pictures and Marvel Studios c0-production.
Filming will commence in December, with a worldwide 3D release penciled in for July 3, 2012.
Stone will next be seen in Screen Gems’ Easy A, which hits UK cinemas on October 22.
