Emily Hirsch is, in my opinion, one of the best actors of his generation, and I’m always looking forward to what he’s bringing us next.

He’s most recently starred opposite Matthew McConaughey in Killer Joe and as part of the fantastic ensemble cast of Oliver Stone’s Savages, currently in US theatres and due out in the UK on 28th September.

Variety now report that Hirsch is in early talks to reunite with one of his Savages co-stars, Taylor Kitsch, for Peter Berg’s Lone Survivor.

Mark Wahlberg, Kitsch, and Ben Foster are on board the project already, which is set to be next of Berg’s schedule.

“An adaptation of the book by Marcus Luttrell, Lone Survivor tells the harrowing story of how Luttrell and his Navy SEAL team members fought to stay alive after being ambushed in Afghanistan in 2005 by Taliban forces during a covert mission in the Hindu Kush mountain region, where the team went to kill a terrorist leader.”

Wahlberg is set to lead as Marcus Luttrell himself, with Hirsch in talks to play one of the team members.

Berg has, as you’re no doubt well aware, had a bit of a mixed bag in his career to date. His big breakthrough in Friday Night Lights is considered one of the best sports movies in the past decade, and Hancock was undeniably a lot of fun back in 2008.

Battleship may not have performed brilliantly at the box office, but it looks like Lone Survivor is very much on track, and with a line-up as stellar as this, it could definitely be good news for fans of Berg, Wahlberg, Kitsch, Foster, and Hirsch.

Not only has Hirsch previously worked with Kitsch and Savages, he’s also worked with Foster on the brilliant Alpha Dog, and getting to see them all together would make for a bit of a dream line-up.

For now, I’ll leave you with the trailer for Alpha Dog – if you’ve not seen it, I highly recommend you pick it up soon – and we’ll bring you more on Lone Survivor as soon as we have it.
