Delivery-Man-PosterRemaking the original French-Canadian film, Starbuck, DreamWorks will be releasing Delivery Man into cinemas Stateside next month, and things are looking good for the comedy, serving as some nice counterprogramming in the awards-heavy season.

It’s been a little while since anything launched for the film, with the studio releasing the first full-length trailer at the start of the summer. But with its US release date very much on the horizon, that’s likely to start changing pretty soon, and they’ve launched a new poster to kick things off.

From DreamWorks Pictures comes “Delivery Man,” the story of affable underachiever David Wozniak (Vince Vaughn), whose mundane life gets twisted in a knot when he finds out that he fathered 533 children via sperm donations he made twenty years earlier. In debt to the mob, rejected by his pregnant girlfriend, things couldn’t look worse for David when he’s hit with a lawsuit from 142 of the 533 twentysomethings who want to know the identity of the donor. As David struggles to decide whether or not he should reveal his true identity, he embarks on a journey that leads him to discover not only his true self but the father he could become as well.

Vince Vaughn takes centre stage here as David Wozniak, father of an impressive five hundred and thirty-three children. And he’s joined by a great cast, led by Chris Pratt, Cobie Smulders, Jack Reynor, and Britt Robertson.

Ken Scott, who helmed the original feature, is back in the director’s chair once more, solely writing the script as well this time around.

Delivery Man will be released in the US on November 22nd, which sees it opening opposite Alexander Payne’s Nebraska, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, and Stephen Frears’ Philomena. Having already seen Nebraska, I’m certain that that will offer some very strong counterprogramming opposite the blockbuster success that will be Catching Fire. But Delivery Man should hopefully hold its own as well as an alternative to the other three.

Since graduating, I spend as much time as possible watching films/TV shows, reading books, and listening to music. So getting to write about what I love is nothing short of awesome. Biggest film-related hope for 2014/ever: Guy Ritchie announcing the RocknRolla sequel is finally moving forward.
