Comedian Dax Shepard looks like he’s taken the blueprint for Joaquin Phoenix’s I’m Still Here and given it more of a comedic bent in the trailer (embedded below) for his new film, Brother’s Justice.

This appears to be a mockumentary with Shepard playing a version of himself who is trying to reinvent his career by taking on the role of a martial arts expert, despite no training or expertise at all.

The footage here is actually very funny, and Shepard has called in favours from his now well-established Hollywood buddies (Bradley Cooper, Jon Favreau and Aston Kutcher all show up in the trailer).

The actor (whose big break was on MTV’s Punked alongside Kutcher) is currently gaining good notices stateside for his turn in mumblecore comedy The Freebie, so maybe this could signal a new direction in his Hollywood career.
