Dawn-of-the-Planet-of-the-Apes-Poster-sliceWith Matt Reeves taking over the franchise following Rupert Wyatt’s 2011 reboot, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is poised to be one of the biggest blockbusters of the summer season.

Andy Serkis is of course back in the motion-cap role of Caesar, with a new line-up of human and ape casts alike. And after promising a new trailer with a teaser last week, Fox have delivered the goods and then some.

A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.

Jason Clarke leads the human cast, alongside Gary Oldman, Keri Russell, Kirk Acevedo, and Kodi Smit-McPhee, with Judy Greer and Toby Kebbell leading the new ape roster.

Reeves (Cloverfield) directs from a script co-written by Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) and Mark Bomback (The Wolverine).

Fox have already put Planet of the Apes 3 on their slate, bringing Reeves back to the fold to direct and co-write the script with Bomback, setting the film for release on July 29th, 2016.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes will be released in the US on July 11th, a week earlier than its 17th July UK release date.
