David Fincher

When it was revealed that Aaron Sorkin was working on a rival to Joshua Michael Stern’s Jobs (which starred Two and A Half Men’s Ashton Kutcher), many dismissed that movie as simply a place holder until The Social Network scribe’s take reached the big screen.

Jobs of course failed to make an impact at the box office or with critics, and we now have yet another reason to get excited over Sony’s look at the life of the Apple founder. Based on Walter Isaacson’s best-selling biography, The Hollywood Reporter reveals that the movie will re-team Sorkin with The Social Network director David Fincher.

Sorkin began writing the script in 2012, although the project has been in development since just after Jobs passed away in 2011. Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak is participating in the film as a consultant, and while Fincher is said to be only in early talks at this stage, it seems likely that he will indeed reunite with Aaron Sorkin and producer Scott Rudin.

Since they worked on the Academy Award nominated The Social Network, Fincher has been busy with The Girl with The Dragon Tattoo, House of Cards and the upcoming Gone Girl.

No actor is attached for the role of Jobs as of yet, but the A-List team working on the movie will likely attract an A-List cast. According to various interviews with Sorkin, the movie would be focus on the creation of the Mac, NeXT and the iPod.
