Yet another major casting addition has been made to Denis Villeneuve (Sicario) Blade Runner sequel as Guardians of the Galaxy and SPECTRE star Dave Bautista is officially joining Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford, and Robin Wright in the long rumoured follow up to the sci-fi classic.

Shooting is set to begin this July, and according to the press release, the movie is set several decades after the 1982 original, with Harrison Ford reprising his iconic role as Rick Deckard.

Written by Hampton Fancher and Michael Green, Blade Runner 2 succeeds the initial story by Fancher and David Peoples based on Philip K. Dick’s novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep. Story details, as well as Bautista’s character, are not being revealed, so this one very much remains a mystery for now. However, more will no doubt be made clear soon enough.

Former WWE Superstar Dave Bautista is currently shooting Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, and this looks set to be another high profile role for the actor. While many fans of Blade Runner were upset to learn that Ridley Scott wouldn’t be at the helm of this sequel, you have to believe that the franchise is definitely in very good hands with Villeneuve taking charge.
