A new image has emerged from Star Wars The Last Jedi of a character we haven’t really heard too much about, Resistance maintenance worker Rose Tico played by newcomer Kelly Marie Tran.

The new image, in which she is sat next to Resistance fighter Finn (John Boyega) places them both in the cockpit of a craft on their way to the casino planet, Canto Bright. For those without a key eye for detail, this just looks like any other image, but others will notice the necklace she is wearing, a necklace that plays an important role according to the young actress.

“That is definitely something that is significant to Rose’s backstory. It is an object that she kind of has throughout the film and it is representative of more than the object itself to her. So, yeah, that’s all I can say. It has significance that is, to me, something that means more than just what the object itself is.”

Not much is known about Tran’s character Rose but she did go on to describe why she likes her character, giving a little insight into her character’s personality.

“Something that I really like about Rose, she’s sort of always on a mission. She is a very practical person, she’s very pragmatic. The journey that she and Finn go seems pretty impossible, you can tell in this moment that she’s very much aware of the dangers that they are about to face, but she’s also logically in her mind problem-solving on the way. She knows exactly, probably, how many things can go wrong in a situation.”

In other news, Mark Hamill has come out and debunked the rumours that Luke has transitioned over to the Dark Side, while he hasn’t made that turn, Luke will be going through a dark phase in his life.

“Luke has lost confidence in his ability to make good choices. It haunts him to the core. But he hasn’t gone to the dark side. This isn’t an evil version of him. But it’s still an incarnation of the character I never expected. It has pulled me out of my comfort zone. It’s a real challenge.”

Two new posters have also made their way online, you can view these below.
