To celebrate the release of Fresh, which comes to Disney+ in the UK this week after its debut a fortnight ago in the US, we had the pleasure of chatting to star Daisy Edgar-Jones about the Sundance sensation.
Fresh follows Noa (Edgar-Jones), who meets the alluring Steve (Sebastian Stan) at a grocery store and – given her frustration with dating apps – takes a chance and gives him her number. After their first date, Noa is smitten and accepts Steve’s invitation to a romantic weekend getaway. Only to find that her new paramour has been hiding some unusual appetites.
Chatting to us about the film Edgar-Jones told us about why she was drawn to the film, its perfect mix of dark humour, satire, and thrills, the relationship with Sebastian Stan’s character, working for a female director and writer, and why she and Stan’s dance moves are set to become the new “Oscar Isaac in Ex Machina” meme sensation on social media.
