Friends is one of those rare TV series that really manage to spread across the globe and permeate the international market, translated into dozens of languages and played in dozens more countries across the globe.

News now comes that Courteney Cox and her husband (though the two are separated) David Arquette are in the process of developing a new sitcom tentatively called Ten Years, Deadline report.

The new show is to be,

“an ensemble comedy that explores the ups and downs of relationships among a group of friends spanning 10 years.”

Not too dissimilar to the basic premise of Friends itself, but you’d assume (maybe ‘hope’ is a better word) that Ten Years would have to be fairly different to maintain interest with the audience. Nobody does it quite like Friends did it.

It’s thought that two of the characters will be loosely based on Cox and Arquette’s own lives, being separated but still remaining close and raising their daughter together. The two are putting the project together at US network, ABC, through their production company, Coquette Productions. They’re expected to be selling it shortly, most likely to ABC, so more news as we get it.
