class=”alignleft size-full wp-image-56616″ title=”Clooney and Soderbergh” src=”https://www.heyuguys.com/images/2010/11/Clooney-and-Soderbergh.jpg” alt=”” width=”256″ height=”152″ />Steven Soderbergh bids goodbye to another well-deserved break (he’s made 17 features in the last decade!), with reports coming through that he may be teaming up with his old producing partner and frequent collaborator George Clooney for an adaptation of the 1960’s spy series The Man from U.N.C.L.E.
Scott Z. Burns (the writer behind Soderbergh’s The Informant and his upcoming all-star, deadly virus action feature Contagion) has been mentioned as a possible scriptwriter for this project. For those who are unfamiliar with the original material, the TV series followed the exploits of two secret agents, (Robert Vaughn and David McCallum), who worked for a fictitious secret international law-enforcement agency called U.N.C.L.E. (the United Network Command for Law and Enforcement).
Soderbergh has a real affinity for the era in which ‘U.N.C.L.E’ was produced and having previously teamed up with Clooney to remake the similarly-groovy 60’s feature Ocean’s Eleven in a contemporary setting, it will be interesting to see what the two can do with this material.
