According to the LA Times, Chloe Moretz, best known for her portrayal of Hit-Girl in Matthew Vaughn’s Kick-Ass, is in talks to star in an upcoming indie drama, tentatively titled The Rut.

Karyn Kusama will handle direction, and comes after her previous films, Aeon Flux and Jennifer’s Body, failed to make much of an impact.

Synopsis: The Rut concerns a father-daughter relationship and centers particularly on hunting, as a daughter must learn the tricks of hunting and archery taught to her by her father after said father goes missing.

Chloe Mortetz, who has spent the past two years building up momentum as a young actress to be reckoned with, will play the central character, in a role that’s likely to highlight her true acting ability. The Rut’s plot does sound intriguing and, with an indie darling like Kusama at the helm, it could make a decent transition to screen, as long as it doesn’t repeat the problems Kusama faced with with Aeon Flux and Jennifer’s Body.

Moretz will next be seen in Matt Reeves’ adaptation of John Ajvide Lindqvist acclaimed vampire fiction novel, Let Me In.
