Despite having the two-part Avengers: Infinity War on the horizon, Joe and Anthony Russo will seemingly be taking a quick break from the Marvel Cinematic Universe to adapt The Warriors for the small screen. Based on Walter Hill’s iconic 1979 cult classic, the show will premiere on Hulu, the American online streaming service responsible for 11.22.63.

The Russos are teaming with writer Frank Baldwin to reimagine the property, and they’ll direct the pilot. There’s currently no word on when exactly that will happen, but it definitely sounds like this new take on The Warriors is a priority for both Hulu and Paramount TV.

It’s said that the Russo Brothers’ take will, “honour the original film while adding its own unique brand of grit, pulp, sex and violence.” Their involvement beyond that pilot episode is currently unknown, but with such a big commitment to Marvel, they’ll probably just produce.

In The Warriors, a street gang is blamed unfairly for a rival gang leader’s death and must fight its way home to Coney Island from the Bronx. That was set in the 1970s, but it will be interesting to see whether this series will stick to that era or take place in the present day.
