A handful of first look images has emerged along with the firs trailer cor Eli Roth’s remake of the 1974 Death Wish with Bruce Willis looking very much like he does in most of his action outings.

In the original film Charles Bronson took the lead in the iconic franchise which was based on the 1972 novel from Brian Garfield. Bruce Willis will play the lead, Paul Kersey, in Roth’s remake which sees the action move from New York to Chicago due to a rise in homicides.  Also in Roth’s remake, the central character has had a change in his profession from architect to a surgeon.

Starring alongside Willis in the remake no one asked for (the story focuses on a mild-mannered father is transformed into a killing machine after his wife is murdered and his daughter raped and left comatose…) is Vincent D’Onofrio as Frank Kersey, Paul Kersey’s younger brother, Lucy’s husband and Jordan’s father, Elisabeth Shue as Lucy Kersey, the wife of Paul Kersey and Jordan’s mother, Dean Norris as Detective Rains, Kimberly Elise as Detective Jackson, partner to Detective Rains and Mike Epps as Dr. Chris Salgado, a playboy doctor and close friend of Paul Kersey.

Roth, in an interview with Yahoo Movies, stated why he wanted Willis in his remake of the classic franchise;

“We wanted to bring back that great, classic Bruce Willis we all know and love and just do a fun, badass update of a revered classic. I wanted to bring Bruce back to that ‘Fifth Element,’ ‘Unbreakable,’ ‘Die Hard‘  glory and have him craft another iconic performance, and I really think he did it. I mean I really think this can be his ‘Taken.’ The fun is watching him go crazy and watching someone slowly move the moral goal post.”

Death Wish is due for a winter release in November 2017
