HeyUGuys is live at the O2 arena in London for the Empire Big Screen movie event for the full three days and we aim to have as much covered as possible.

Right now we have the Sony Pictures Panel and we’ll be liveblogging the event right here on this page. You won’t have to refresh anything – just keep watching the live blog panel below and we’ll update you with all the goings on.

Two animation projects we’re looking out for today are Arthur Christmas and The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists as well as The Amazing Spider-Man which is looking pretty so far given the images and trailers we’ve seen. Too soon for a reboot? Let’s find out…

You can ask us questions as we go, and we’ll do our best to respond to them.

Roland Emmerich came on stage to talk about Anonymous and we saw two extended clips. We weren’t sold if honest and if anything, were rather bored by it!

Costume design and the general look of the movie was spot on and fantastic but had Rhys Ifans talking as if it was Shakespeare writing and it just takes it out of you. It’s one you’e going to have to pay attention to!

The Total Recall footage looked almost finished and featured the scene in which Quaid (Colin Farrell) goes to Recall – we are not told exactly what it is but fans will know what they do there. In opposition to the cold corporate offices in Verhoeven’s film this is full on Eastern influence with huge buddhas and a gong or two. He chooses his dream and the chair is set up – then it all goes wrong.

As does the scene. In Verhoeven’s film Arnie’s treatment went wrong and the Quaid character we knew didn’t change hugely – the response to the sudden change in his reality seemed to gel with his character up to that point. In this fillm Farrell is faced with dozens of svelte stromtroopers who surround him. He suddenly manages to grab a guard and blitz through the entire band of troopers with gun play to equal Equlibrium. All of a sudden he changes – he is a different person capable of felling Jason Bourne with ease and we know instantly that he is in the dream. WIth Arnie’s film there was the right amount of uncertainty and this played out across the rest of the film. The way this was shot we know from the instant he goes gung-ho on his assailants that he is not the same man as before.

I did like the look of the film and Colin Farrell looks just right to be playing this everyman in extraordinary circumstances. There’s a lot to see and I’m hoping I’m wrong in my reaction to how this shot affects the movie.

Pirates and Adventure with Scientists looked amazing and we can’t wait to see it! Saw numerous clips seeing all the characters bit by bit and Brian Blessed as The Pirate King was simply awesome!!
