The British Independent Film Awards (BIFA) has today unveiled the nominees for its very first ‘Cinema of the Year’ award, supported by Kia and voted for by cinemagoers across the UK.

In a celebration of the venues that champion independent cinema, over 130 cinemas entered the competition, with more than 100,000 votes cast by film lovers nationwide. From these, a specially appointed jury selected the final five nominees, taking into account not just the public vote but also each cinema’s community contribution, commitment to environmental sustainability, and efforts to make cinema accessible for all.
