Yesterday evening the red carpet was unfurled at Old Billingsgate in London for the annual British Independent Film Awards. This year’s event was a continuation of the great work done to celebrate the very best of British film.
God’s Own Country took home to coveted Best British Independent Film award among its total haul of four awards. The stunning Lady Macbeth won five awards including the Best Actress award for rising star Florence Pugh, and Armando Iannucci’s The Death of Stalin bagged four of the awards. Further afield Rungano Nyoni took home the enviable double bill of awards being named Best Debut Director and Best Director for I Am Not a Witch.
