We’re less than two weeks away from the release of Wes Anderson’s latest film, Moonrise Kingdom, and everything we’ve seen so far has been brilliant. It promises to be every bit the kind of films we love the director for and more.

Four new behind the scenes featurette have surfaced online, courtesy of Yahoo Movies, Fandango, Moviefone, and MTV, giving us a look at the production with Bill Murray, Edward Norton, Bruce Willis, and Wes Anderson himself. (Though, sadly, MTV’s video with Anderson is unavailable to us here in the UK).

“Set on an island off the coast of New England in the summer of 1965, MOONRISE KINGDOM tells the story of two twelve-year-olds who fall in love, make a secret pact, and run away together into the wilderness. As various authorities try to hunt them down, a violent storm is brewing off-shore — and the peaceful island community is turned upside down in more ways than anyone can handle. Bruce Willis plays the local sheriff. Edward Norton is a Khaki Scout troop leader. Bill Murray and Frances McDormand portray the young girl’s parents. The cast also includes Tilda Swinton, Jason Schwartzman, and Jared Gilman and Kara Hayward as the boy and girl.”

The script is another work by Anderson and Roman Coppola (The Darjeeling Limited), and the cast is fantastic, including Norton, Willis, Murray, Frances McDormand, Tilda Swinton, Jason Schwartzman, Bob Balaban, and introducing Jared Gilman and Kara Hayward as the leading children.

Moonrise Kingdom has been selected as the opening film for Cannes Film Festival this week on 16th May, which is naturally a great sign. It will then be released shortly after on 25th May here in the UK, with a simultaneous limited release in the US on the same day. For now, the new featurettes for your viewing pleasure.
