Here’s a little something for those Scott Pilgrim fans out there (and I’m sure there’s a lot of you!)

Unfortunately, the film may have disappeared a little too early from both the US and our cinema screens but it still lives on (and will keep doing so) through the likes of special screenings and fan retrospectives.

Below is an alternative promotional poster which UK-based artist Sam Gilbey has designed for the film’s upcoming shows (which Edgar Wright is scheduled to attend and plugged on his blog) at LA’s revival movie theatre, the New Beverly Cinema.

This is a fantastic design and it’s really up there with the original cinema quads in terms of capturing the essence of the film. There are also four close-up images of the characters from the poster below the main image.

Mild-mannered civilian by day, passionate cinephile and dedicated blogger at night, my obsession began with seeing the image of Luke staring wistfully at the two stars of Tatooine, and 30-plus years later, that love have never wavered.

  1. Speaking of SPvTW and “Hey you guys!” — the movie debuts today in Astoria, Oregon at the Columbia Theater. That’s right. The home of The Goonies is getting the best movie of the year. I’m tempted to drive down from Seattle…

  2. Movie posters are great collectors’ items, and this is a fun example. I really enjoy the red background color; the images and font stand out well against it and it is an attractive attention grabbing color as well. Thanks for sharing this!
