NEON and Picturehouse Entertainment have unveiled the official teaser trailer for ‘Artificial’, Luca Guadagnino’s highly anticipated new film starring Andrew Garfield as controversial OpenAI founder and CEO Sam Altman.
From Oscar-nominated director Luca Guadagnino (Call Me By Your Name, Challengers) and Emmy Award-winning ‘Saturday Night Live’ writer Simon Rich, ‘Artificial’ explores one of the most consequential moments in the recent history of artificial intelligence.
The film chronicles the extraordinary days leading up to the sudden firing and subsequent reinstatement of Altman, as tensions surrounding the future of OpenAI reach a dramatic breaking point. At the centre of the story is a much larger question: who gets to control the technology at the heart of an increasingly fierce global AI arms race?
Garfield takes on the role of Altman in what promises to be a strikingly different performance for the Oscar-nominated actor. He is joined by an impressive ensemble cast including Yura Borisov, Monica Barbaro, Cooper Hoffman, Jason Schwartzman, Chris O’Dowd, Ike Barinholtz and Mark Rylance.
Blending sobering drama with dark comedy, ‘Artificial’ arrives at a particularly fascinating moment as artificial intelligence continues to transform technology, business and everyday life. Guadagnino and Rich’s film looks set to explore the human drama behind the headlines while examining the extraordinary stakes of AI’s future.
The film will make its way onto the autumn festival circuit, with screenings at both the New York Film Festival and the London Film Festival, before its theatrical release in the UK and Ireland.
