At the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year, Armando Iannucci announced his plans to follow-up his critically-acclaimed feature film debut In The Loop with a “slapstick comedy”, tentatively titled Out The Window.

In an interview with The Guardian over the weekend, Iannucci shared the first details about the new project:

The story of a guy who works in a glass-fronted office building and one day he scratches his armpit. Somebody films it, puts it on YouTube with a soundtrack of monkey noises. It ruins his life. So this guy spends the rest of the film trying to track down the bastard who made him known the world over as Scratchy Monkey.

Iannucci is said to have collaborated on the film’s script with Will Smith and Roger Drew, who both worked with him on the BBC series The Thick Of It.

In addition to Out The Window, Iannucci is also working on a long-awaited film centering on Alan Partridge, Steve Coogan’s fictional talk-show host, and has sold a script to HBO that will focus on the office of the Vice-President.
