To celebrate the UK release of Archive, new the sci-fi drama from writer/director Gavin Rothery, we sat down with the filmmaker and his two leads to delve deeper into his world of artificial intelligence.
Set in 2038, Archive tells the story of George Almore (Theo James) who is working on a true human-equivalent AI. His latest prototype is almost ready and this sensitive final phase is also the riskiest. Especially as he has a goal that must be hidden at all costs: being reunited with his dead wife.
Part Ex_Machina, part Blade Runner and part Her, Archive deals with the subjects of the afterlife, death, love and man vs machine in a touching and dynamic way that feels fresh and exciting. James and Martin tells us why Rothery’s story spoke to them, why they felt compelled to be part of it and why the film feels different to what you have seen before.
