Prime Video has unveiled the teaser trailer and release date for ‘Apocalypse Z: New World,’ the highly anticipated sequel to ‘Apocalypse Z: The Beginning of the End.’ The new post-apocalyptic thriller will make its world premiere at the Sitges Film Festival on 10 October, before arriving exclusively on Prime Video on 30 October.
Following the success of its predecessor, ‘Apocalypse Z: New World’ promises to expand the franchise with a larger-scale, ensemble-driven story packed with survival, adventure and action. ‘Apocalypse Z: The Beginning of the End’ became Prime Video’s most-watched international Original movie, surpassed only by ‘Your Fault.’
Carles Torrens, whose credits include ‘Sky Rojo’ and ‘Animal de compañía,’ returns to direct the sequel, which once again draws inspiration from the work of author Manel Loureiro.
This time around, the action moves to the Canary Islands, which have become Europe’s last refuge following the devastating outbreak of the TSJ virus. When a special mission heads to the mainland in search of vital supplies, Roberto joins the team with questionable intentions.
What begins as a dangerous supply mission quickly becomes a desperate fight for survival as the group finds itself trapped between hordes of infected and increasingly fractured loyalties. With humanity hanging by a thread, Roberto and his companions must face a brutal choice: save themselves or risk everything to preserve what little humanity remains.
The film stars Carlos Alcaide (El Internado: Las Cumbres, La edad de la ira), Julia Martínez (La promesa), Mónica López (Rapa, Cronos), Tamara Casellas (Ama, El Hijo Zurdo) and Santiago Vaca Narvaja (La sociedad de la nieve, Ciudad universitaria).
Jose María Yazpik, internationally recognised for ‘Narcos,’ returns as Pritchenko, a key ally from the first film who is searching for a possible way out. Berta Vázquez also reprises her role as Lucía, a nurse barricaded inside a hospital while facing the constant threat of the infected.
And yes, Pedrito the cat is back as Lúculo, the feline who became a fan favourite in ‘Apocalypse Z: The Beginning of the End.’
The returning cast is joined by new additions, including Axel Medrano (Costa!!), Pedro Hernández (El 47), Javier Godino (Ventajas de viajar en tren), Ujin Moreno and Mario Mayo (Os reviento).
