Probably not, but according to IESB George Lucas could be creating a brand new trilogy after all the 6 movies have been released into 3d. IESB could be mistaken but quote previous scoops which they’ve recently acquired to give them some credibility:

First, let me remind our readers of IESB’s past scoops so anyone doubting the news will be aware. From Joss Whedon directing the Avengers, to the recent announcement of Disney’s planned renegotiation of the Paramount Marvel deal, to the countless casting scoops, directing scoops, to our solid sources at Lucasfilm.

Here’s the important details, again from IESB:

George Lucas is plotting to create new Star Wars movies at the ultra top-secret Skywalker Ranch. This is deja vu of the mid ’90s when Uncle George start[ed] tweaking the Holy Trilogy to gear up for the Special Editions. […] These new film will have nothing to do with the live action television series currently in development. That show already has over 50 scripts ready to go and plenty of pre-production time and money has been spent on artwork and storyboards. Once that show goes into production, Lucasfilm hopes to be able to produce at least 100 episodes since that is the threshold for syndication in the United States […Fans] can expect the new trilogy after the entire saga is released in 3D which is expected to be complete around 2015 or 2016.

Furthermore the site mentions that these new movies are to be created 2 years after Return of the Jedi has been re-released in 3d. Currently we dont know if this rumour is true and according to Underwire (via io9), LucasFilm are denying the stories but then they’re bound to at this point whether it’s true or not.

I first saw this story when Production Weekly tweeted it. Could it have any credit to it? I guess we’ll have to wait 4 or 5 years to find out! What are your thoughts? Tells us in the comments below.
