There are some compelling images in this new trailer for Mike Cahill’s Another Earth which played to great acclaim in Sundance this year.

Fox Searchlight are throwing this film into US cinemas this summer and regular readers may notice a similar premise, at least on the surface, to Lars Von Trier’s Melancholia, whose own sublime trailer can be found here.

The synopsis-hungry should prepare themselves to be sated,

In ANOTHER EARTH, Rhoda Williams (Brit Marling), a bright young woman accepted into MIT’s astrophysics program, aspires to explore the cosmos. A brilliant composer, John Burroughs (William Mapother), has just reached the pinnacle of his profession and is about to have a second child. On the eve of the discovery of a duplicate Earth, tragedy strikes and the lives of these strangers become irrevocably intertwined.

Hey Jonny New Poster,

Stop! Trailer time…

As always Apple is the place to be for HD trailers. Oh, and I prefer this poster. More romantic, less facey.
