The Disney Channel has confirmed their hit diverse coming of age tv series, Andi Mack, will be returning for a third season.
The current cast of Peyton Elizabeth Lee, Lilan Bowden, Joshua Rush, Sofia Wylie and Asher Angel all found out the news while on ABC’s Good Morning America yesterday.
Marsh said, “A series about a girl discovering that her sister is really her mother was new territory for Disney Channel, but Terri’s honest, authentic storytelling allowed our audience to connect deeply to these characters and their journeys of self-discovery. What she has crafted stands as a high-water benchmark for kids and family storytelling around the world.”
The Disney Channel keep hitting the right notes with teenage audiences, Andi Mack only premiered in the UK on Disney Channel in March 2017, and has reached more than 40 million total viewers and nearly 17 million kids worldwide. The winning formula has also seen the channel recently announce the third movie for the Descendents.
A new Andi Mack season two episode, I Wanna Hold Your Wristband, premieres this Friday, 23 February, at 5.30pm on Disney Channel, during which Andi and her friends are surprised when they arrive at school and are divided into two separate groups. New episodes from season two will continue across the coming months, with episodes from the third season scheduled to debut later in 2018.
Andi Mack was created and is executive-produced by Terri Minsky (Lizzie McGuire) and also executive-produced by Michelle Manning (The Breakfast Club, Disney Channel Original Movies Adventures in Babysitting and Teen Beach 2). Phil Baker (Disney Channel’s Good Luck Charlie) is co-executive producer.
Filming on the third season will commence imminently in Salt Lake City, Utah.
